Find LIC Policy Numbers

Are you in the search of your LIC policy numbers? Have you lost your original policy bonds?

Today, I will tell you, How to find your LIC policy number by name and date of birth?

Crores of Indians have their investment in LIC Plans. Some have one or two policy while many have more than that. Sometimes what happens, we do not keep the records of our policies safely. Even maximum of them do not inform  their family members and many of them have lost their bond itself. Let's find out the possibilities to obtain our policy details back:

How LIC Policy Number is forgotten?

In maximum cases, the main reason I have found out is the lost of the policy bond and LIC premium paid receipts. And then problem arises of finding out their LIC policy numbers. Even as I said before that, many policy holders never share their policy details with their family members. In case of sudden demise of the policyholder, the family or nominee faces the difficulties to find LIC policy number to obtain the claim.

If you have created your login account in LIC portal from their website, then it becomes very easy to get all the policy numbers. Otherwise, it becomes one of the biggest hindrance for policy holders to find out their policy numbers.

Now the general question people  ask me is, Can I find my LIC policy numbers with the help of my name and birthdate?

So, first of all remember that you have to give your full name and birthdate you mentioned as per LIC records while buying LIC policy.

Login to LIC portal on website

If you have created the login account in LIC portal on website of LIC and you know the login credentials, then by loging you can easily find out the policy number without any struggle.

Contact LIC Advisor

The best and easiest way is to contact your family LIC Advisor from whom you purchased the policy. Insurance Advisors like me keep the complete record of our valuable clients. We can provide you those details very easily with in a minute. Pick up your phone and call him/her.

Visit your nearest LIC Branch Office

It is not necessary to go to your home branch, just visit the nearest LIC branch office in your area where you are residing. Just give your complete name and birthdate as per LIC record.

Congrats! Here are your policy details...

Visit Unclaimed and Outstanding option of LIC

If you have not claimed or there is an outstanding from LIC to be payable to the policyholder, then you can use this option. For this purpose also, your full name and birthdate is enough.

Unclaimed amount means the money which has been remained unclaimed beyond 6 months from the claim settlement due date. Do remember that this information will be updated by LIC on half yearly basis. It may be due to any of the reasons.

Death claim, Maturity claim, Survival benefit (related to Money-Back policies), Premium due for refund, Premium deposit not adjusted against premium or Indemnity claims etc.

The procedure is simple. Visit the LIC Unclaimed Policy Status Link. Enter the mandatory details like name and birthdate. You will get the unclaimed and outstanding amounts of policyholder along with policy number.

Your policy detail is your personal asset which LIC can't share with anyone that's why, right now there is no such service provided by LIC openly to any of its customer to find out policy numbers by just entering your name and birthdate.

You can go with any of the methods mentioned above.

I would like to suggest you to please keep each and every paper related to LIC safely with you and make sure that all your family members are aware about it. After all you have taken your life insurance for the security of your own family only.

Follow this points to avoid such situation:
  • Make habit of maintaining all your Investment & Insurance records at one place.
  • Make all your family members specially nominees aware about all your Investments & Insurance.
  • Update each and every required details as per your current situation i.e. phone number, residential address, nominee's name, e-mail address etc.
  • And review your policy details regularly to find out the upcoming due date of the premium, maturity date, late fees, loan repayment etc.
  • Make your login account by visiting the website of LIC today itself to avoid loosing your policy number.
